Online help for BLE Radar
General product information
The BLE Radar is a compact, portable sensor for measuring the water level of fresh, dirty or grey water. The measurement is carried out using radar. Thanks to the internal battery and to the data transmission via local radio connection, the device works independently and thereforeThe ultra low power technology allows for a long battery life time (up to 10 years) with both short measurement intervals and high resolution.
Product specifications:
- ATEX certified for zone 1
- High resolution
- Large measurment range
- Short measurment interval
- Compact dimensions
- Up to 10 years battery life due to ultra low power technology
- Data transmission via local radio connection
- Very low commissioning and operating costs
- No cabling required
Fields of application:
- Sewage systems and industrial plants
- Municipal water and wastewater systems
Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
The BLE Radar does not have a special transport mode. I.e. it is always ready for operation and does not have to be activated.

This method is only suitable for empty channels. If the laser beam hits a water surface, it cannot be guaranteed that the value displayed is actually the distance to the surface. Depending on the turbidity of the water, it may also be the distance to the bottom or a value in between. Even if the laser distance meter correctly displays the distance to the surface, the level must still be added to determine the mounting height. |
Using the optional accessory "Laser meter adapter (301492)", a laser distance meter can be attached to the bracket of the sensor recess or inserted into the sensor recess instead of the BLE Radar . The distance to the bottom of the channel indicated by the laser distance meter thus corresponds to the mounting height.
The following laser distance meters are compatible with the adapter:
- Bosch PRO GLM 50-27 CG
- Bosch PRO GLM 50-27 C
- Bosch PRO GLM 50-25 G
- Bosch PRO GLM 50-23 G
- Bosch PRO GLM 50-22
- Bosch PRO GLM 40-31

The laser distance meter sits upside down in the sensor recess. The "front edge of the measuring tool" must therefore be selected as the reference plane. |

Using a compatible data logger, the values for mounting height and trimming can be transmitted to the BLE Radar . Both values are taken into account when calculating the water level (see Determining the water level).
With a Jellox for instance, mounting height and trimming can be set via the configuration section "Remote measurement channels".
Water level = (mounting height - distance) + trimming

The scattering of the measured values increases in waters with a turbulent surface. This can lead to gaps and jumps in the measurement graphs.
The BLE Radar does not have a special transport mode and therefore does not need to be deactivated.
